"Tamika Joy" Tamika Joy Harris-Russell they call “the woman of many hats”. She’s the Founder & President of Stars Performing Arts Inc. a nonprofit 501c3, CEO of S.T.A.R.S. LLC. and Joy’s Beauty Bar. She’s known professionally as Tamika Joy. A singer, songwriter, philanthropist, author, actress, model, visionary and has been in the music industry for over 20 years. She started in church and was inspired to sing by the tender age of 3. Whitney Houston was the one who touched her heart and gave her a different type of love for music. Tamika leads with a 7- octave range. Tamika took a hiatus from being in the spotlight for some time to raise her 6 beautiful children. She’s managed to do a lot of things in the background over the years that helped keep her passion alive like; background vocals, ghost writing, artist development, consulting, managing her two children DJ Cash DMV and singer Treasure Joy along with The Capital Kidd’s an urban Mickey Mouse Club group from Washington, DC. In 2005, she became the 1st lady of DC’s own legendary go-go band Junkyard, was the casting director for the Godfather of go-go Chuck Browns video “Block Party” in 2006. Tamika has recently released a single with VMG Band called “Be Free” performed with other recording artist such as Frank McComb, Kima from the group Total, and the X Factors David Correy. Made history singing in 2 go-go musicals: “Wind Me Up Maria” (2016) Gonda Theatre at Georgetown University that sold out, added another show and that sold out within 24 hours, a first at Georgetown. “The Giz” (2018) 1st production at MGM National Harbor as “Glenda” The Good Witch of Georgetown that sold out. She was the 1 st artist to ever perform at Felt Lounge & Bar inside the MGM National Harbor, and for the play “Da Golden Girlz” with DC Blackbroadway. Tamika was an extra in the BET premier movie “Angrily Ever After”. (2019) directed by actress Terri Vaughn. She also wrote a song in Zeke “The Awakening”, you can also catch her in the movie. (2020) Tamika is still building her empire. She’s has part ownership in Gowomen, and BGSN, a TV streaming app that’s launching soon. Tamika loves the Lord and wants everyone to dream BIG, always stay a student and never give up.
